The Rampage kicked off the 2010-2011 season with a victory over the Texas Jr. Brahmas on Friday. The Rampage dominated offensively throughout the game, ultimately outshooting the Brahmas by over twenty shots in the 5-2 win.
With only 4 ½ minutes remaining in the first period veteran forward and Broken Arrow, Oklahoma native Bobby Watson opened the scoring with a power play goal assisted by Elliott Langford. The Brahmas silenced the Rampage’s hometown crowd by responding less than a minute later with a power play goal of their own, scored by Antonio Vargas. At the end of the frame both teams left the ice with a tally for their side.
The second period was reminiscent of the first as much of it ticked away before a power play goal was scored in the last half of the period. That goal, scored by Brahmas forward Oscar Plechawski seemed to be the catalyst that brought intensity out of the Rampage. Defenseman Kaleb Christians evened the score with an even strength goal moments later. The Rampage were able to leave the second frame with a lead on a second even strength goal scored by Travis Ringeman and assisted by Bobby Watson.
Watson proved to be the star of the game as he opened the third period by setting up an even strength goal for Assistant Captain Jeff Lundberg of Vannas Sweden. The fourth and final unanswered goal came just before the final buzzer as Mario Dalesandro netted his first of the season for the Rampage. In the end goaltender Eric Messer had faced 34 shots, stopping all but two of them.
