The Tulsa Rampage are gearing up to host a benefit hockey game in honor of American Soldiers. The annual event benefits the Blue Star Mothers who provide a variety of services to military personnel including assisting at military funerals and sending care packages, called Freedom Boxes, to soldiers who are serving on foreign soil. Admission to the game is a monetary donation of $5 or more or a contribution of items that would be appropriate for the Freedom Boxes.
The game is one that is close to the heart of Rampage owner Julie Wilson who started the event in honor of a long time family friend and former player, Corporal Eric Wozencraft. He played for Wilson and head coach Chad MacLeod during their management of the Cincinnati Cobras in the Central States Hockey League. “Woozie had an amazing heart and an amazing work ethic,” she notes “he was our ‘Rudy’ both on and off the ice. He deserves to be honored for more than just his military service, he lived a life that was worthy of showing respect as well.”
